Our Homestyle Chicken recipe is lovingly handcrafted in small batches using only the finest free-range chicken and whole foods approved for human consumption. Our homestyle chicken recipe follows the Ancestral Diet with at least 75% USDA-certified single-source protein plus 25% fruits and vegetables. Complete and uncomplicated whole ingredients are perfect for dogs of all ages.

We only use a combination of white and dark meat plus organ meat from free-range chickens in this recipe because the meat contains higher levels of iron, vitamin B, and antioxidants than white meat. Making it perfect for dogs of all ages including puppies and senior dogs. Also, a good choice for dogs with a sensitive stomach, or gluten allergy.

We recommend you use Ancestral Homestyle Meals as a topper or mix-in, adding it to your dog’s dry kibble. Mixing our food with your dog’s dry kibble is an easy way to add moisture, fat, and nutrients to your dog's diet. You can use as much or little of our food as you would like, but the total amount of food your dog consumes each day should remain the same. For example, if you add 1/2 cup of Ancestral’s Homestyle Food to your dog’s bowl, you would remove an equal amount of their dry kibble.

When Used as a Complete and Balanced Meal

It is important to understand that each dog is special and unique. Younger, more active dogs may require more food than is listed in the table below. While older less active dogs may require less. The table below is intended only as a feeding guideline.

Dog's Current Weight Daily Feeding of Thawed Ancestral Pet Food

3 to 10 pounds 2/3 to 1 cup

10 to 20 pounds 1 to 1 3/4 cups

20 to 30 pounds 1 3/4 to 2 1/4 cups

30 to 40 pounds 2 1/4 to 3 cups

40 to 50 pounds 3 to 3 1/4 cups

50 pounds and above Add 1/2 cup for each additional 10 pounds

It is recommended that you let the next day's meals defrost in the refrigerator overnight before serving. Also, you may slowly defrost in the microwave. For best results use defrost setting in one-minute intervals.

Transitioning to Ancestral Homestyle Meals

It is important to transition to new food over seven days slowly. For dogs with sensitive stomachs, this period should be extended.

Days 1 and 2: Feed dog 75% old food and 25% Ancestral Homestyle Meal

Days 3 and 4: Feed dog 50% old food and 50% Ancestral Homestyle Meal

Days 5 and 6: Feed dog 25% old food and 75% Ancestral Homestyle Meal

Day 7: Feed dog 100% Ancestral Homestyle Meal

My 2 goldens love this. I mix some with their kibble and they gobble it down. I like that it is all natural unprocessed real food. Chicken is their favorite! Highly recommend.
